Deep indigo twilight washes over a military checkpoint lane in the Peruvian highlands. A heavy steel wheel chock and chain rack stands as a stark black silhouette against the fading horizon. Reflected light from a nearby water source casts a cool, shimmering glow on the wet asphalt, highlighting the rough texture of the metal links and the solid form of the chock. The dry season air is clear, leaving the sky a seamless gradient of deep blue above the distant Andes. Equipment racks and barriers separate the lanes for motor-pool and flightline workflows, their shapes merging into the shadow. at the edge is the sharp edge of the chain links cutting through the reflection on the damp ground.
