Metal Stools in Havana

Three rusted metal stools stand clustered on a sun-bleached balcony railing in Havana, their orange paint peeling under the glow of a sodium streetlamp. The warm yellow light reflects off the curved backs of the chairs, against the deep blue shadows pooling in the corners of the frame. Behind the stools, a tangle of bougainvillea vines spills over the concrete edge, their magenta petals catching the ambient city illumination. One brass bolt secures the nearest leg to the railing, its metallic surface glinting sharply against the weathered wood.
