Cluttered Balcony in Havana

A narrow Havana balcony at night is washed in the amber spill of a sodium streetlamp and the cool blue glare of a nearby neon sign. A rusted iron railing frames the view, cluttered with a chipped white dish drainer holding a few wet plastic cups and a dark jade-green ceramic glaze pot housing a spindly hibiscus stem. Behind the railing, a wooden camp stool sits overturned against the peeling lime-wash wall, next to a jar of wooden clothespins.
