Melting Runway Shoes on Gaffer Tape

Cool midday light falls through diffused showroom panels, illuminating a row of high-heeled shoes arranged in precise look order along a strip of black gaffer tape. The shoes rest on a concrete floor in a backstage corridor, their surfaces reflecting the soft, even illumination. Near the wall, condensation beads on a glass partition, signaling the cool season air. The leftmost shoe defies physics, its rigid heel and sole softening into a viscous, amber-colored wax that pools into a smooth, irregular mound at the base. The liquid wax retains the sharp contours of the original shoe structure before merging into the floor. A second shoe stands untouched beside it, its leather texture crisp against the fluid distortion of its neighbor.
