Blue twilight washes the switchback road near Zhangjiajie as a single marble-sized hailstone rests on the dark, curved surface of a car hood. The vehicle forms a sharp silhouette against the fading sky, its contours defined by the cool, deep indigo of early autumn night. Behind the car, the winding road converges toward a distant vanishing point, flanked by the faint outlines of karst peaks rising into the clear air. The hailstone catches a faint glint of residual light, its icy facets against the matte black paint of the metal. Shadows stretch long across the asphalt, showing the steep gradient of the mountain approach. A tiny reflection of the horizon line traces the edge of the stone.
