Comet Haze Over Shanghai Rooftops Night in under the clearest stretch of sky near Moganshan Road, Shanghai

Comet Haze Over Shanghai Rooftops Night

by Samuel Morin

Deep shadows swallow the jagged rooftops along Moganshan Road while a faint, diffuse glow of early autumn twilight lingers in the upper atmosphere. A soft, pale haze resembling a comet tail stretches across the clear sky, suspended above the dense cluster of residential structures. The edges of the buildings catch a sharp rim light from the fading sun, creating thin silver outlines against the darkening forms below. Wet surfaces on the tiled roofs reflect the cool, gray light of a brief sun shower passing overhead. The sky remains largely unobstructed, showing the vertical distance between the urban sprawl and the ethereal atmospheric phenomenon floating high above the city. One patch of wet concrete near the foreground mirrors the pale streak in the sky.
