Lotus Seed Pod Honeycomb Holes Yamoussoukro

Flat noon light strikes the dried lotus seed pod resting on rough, lichen-speckled bark. The pod's surface reveals a precise grid of deep, hexagonal holes, each cavity shadowed in dark brown against the pale, papery tan of the seed casing. Lichen patches in muted gray-green rest on the wood beneath, against the pod's brittle texture. A hard sidelight cuts across the subject, casting sharp, linear shadows that define the depth of every hollow. The warm interior shadows pool within the recesses, showing the geometric regularity of the structure. Fine cracks run along the ridges between the cells, highlighting the dry season's effect on the plant material.
