Mosquito Proboscis Macro in Seed Pod

Warm candlelight spills across the interior of a split seed pod, illuminating the intricate, translucent tip of a mosquito proboscis in extreme profile. The slender, needle-like structure dominates the center, its segmented surface reflecting tiny, sharp points of amber fire. Surrounding the insect, the rough, fibrous walls of the dried pod curve inward, against the smooth, polished edges of a nearby metallic object that catches a slender highlight. Fine hairs on the proboscis stand out against the soft, golden haze, while the deep shadows within the pod's crevices emphasize the delicate scale of the specimen. One, perfect reflection glints on the curved metal rim just below the insect's head.
