Lenticular Cloud Stack Over Winter Peak Near Burlington
by Lucas Greene
Soft, diffused light from an overcast late morning sky illuminates a stack of smooth, almond-shaped altocumulus lenticularis clouds hovering directly above a snow-capped mountain peak near Burlington. The winter landscape below is blanketed in deep white snow, with bare, dark tree branches creating a stark contrast against the pale ground. The cloud formation displays distinct, layered striations of grey and white, appearing almost solid against the flat, uniform grey sky. Snow rests on the rugged ridges of the mountain, emphasizing its scale beneath the floating rock-like formations. The composition places the peak in the lower right third, drawing the eye upward to the suspended clouds, while the left side remains open to the vast, featureless sky. A thin line of shadow falls across the lower slope, marking the edge where the snow meets the dark earth.
