Koala and Joey on Welsh Ridge at Dawn

Thick grey clouds press low over a wind-scoured ridge in Wales, casting a flat, diffuse light across the landscape. A koala clings tightly to a eucalyptus branch, its grey fur matted slightly by the damp air. A small joey peeks out from the mother's pouch, gripping the bark with tiny claws. The eucalyptus leaves are a muted, dusty green, against the pale, milky sky. Below the branch, the ridge drops away into a sea of low-lying mist that obscures the ground. The koala remains perfectly still, its dark eyes fixed forward with intense focus. The rough texture of the bark is visible against the soft, blurred background of the overcast morning.
