Iron Gate Handle in San Francisco

A heavy iron gate handle protrudes from a weathered wooden fence post on a San Francisco residential street corner after dark. The oxidized metal surface reflects the harsh, mixed glow of nearby sodium streetlights and distant neon signs in streaks of orange and blue. Rain-slicked pavement surrounds the base of the post, creating a mirror-like reflection of the city lights on the wet asphalt. One drop of water rests on the edge of the handle, catching the light like a tiny prism.
