Hands Kneading Dough in Zurich Shadow
by Stella Gould
Flour dust coats the wooden work surface as hands press into a mound of pale dough. Deep shadows swallow the center of the frame, while a sharp rim light traces the contours of the wrists and fingers against the dark background. The workspace sits near the edge of the view, hinting at the bustling Langstrasse street beyond. Midsummer air ripples unseen, suggested by the slight blur of loose flour particles caught in the light. The skin shows tension and discipline, muscles defined under the skin as the dough yields. Outside the immediate shadow, distant city lights begin to glow in soft oranges and whites, against the cool blue tones of the indoor gloom. One speck of flour rests on the edge of the table, marking the boundary between the work and the void.
