Gothic Venetian Palazzo Windows Reflected in Toronto Water
Overcast skies cast a flat, steel-grey light across a restored train terminal in Toronto where a Venetian palazzo facade stands in perfect symmetry. Gothic arched windows with intricate stone tracery dominate the composition, their dark openings mirroring the heavy winter clouds above. The building's warm sandstone contrasts with the cool, slate tones of the surrounding interior. A shallow pool of water in the foreground reflects the entire structure, doubling the vertical lines of the arches and creating a seamless boundary between the architecture and its reflection. The water surface remains still, showing the sharp details of the stonework without distortion. Along the bottom edge, the reflection of the lowest arch meets the dark rim of the pool, at the base of the impossible fusion of Italian history and Canadian infrastructure.
