Venetian Palace Balcony Reflected in Algiers Lobby
Ribbed concrete walls of an Algiers lobby frame a mirrored composition where a Venetian palace balcony appears suspended in humid air. Gothic tracery windows with intricate stone patterns reflect sharply against the wet concrete surface, their dark arches against the pale gray ribs of the ceiling. Midday light bounces off unseen water, casting cool, silvery highlights across the wet floor and the delicate ironwork of the balcony railing. Droplets rest on the stone mullions, catching the reflected brightness in tiny, distinct beads. The heavy winter air hangs motionless, visible only as a soft haze that slightly blurs the edges of the stone tracery against the sharp geometric lines of the concrete structure. One water droplet slides down the lower right mullion, tracing a clear path through the dust on the stone.
