Geologist Splits Shale Rock on Terengganu Outcrop

by Ernesto Sellers

Wet, dark grey shale layers dominate the frame, their surfaces slick with recent rain and reflecting the soft late afternoon light. A rock hammer rests against a jagged fracture, its steel head gleaming with moisture. The stone's texture is rough and granular, against the smooth, glistening planes of the split rock. Surrounding the outcrop, reddish-brown soil rests on the base, damp and heavy. The light is diffused, casting gentle shadows that emphasize the depth of the fissure without harsh contrast. Water droplets rest on the rock's edge, catching the ambient glow. A thin layer of green moss creeps along the lower crevice, marking the turn of seasons in the humid air.
