Morning Mist Over Drumlin Hills with Floating Lanterns
by Annie Kirby
Low sun breaks through thick morning mist near Port Harcourt, illuminating the rolling contours of a drumlin field where gentle hills rise in soft earth tones. The air carries a visible haze of sea spray that rests on the undulating ground. Suspended high above the landscape, hundreds of glowing paper lanterns float in the sky, their warm orange and yellow light against the cool blue-gray of the dawn. The horizon glows with a pale golden band, while the foreground reveals wet, textured grass and scattered rocks. Shadows stretch long across the slopes, showing the depth of the receding hills. Each lantern casts a faint, diffuse glow on the mist below, creating a surreal canopy over the natural terrain. The closest hill edge shows distinct blades of grass bent by the damp air.
