Eland Bull in Morning Mist Near Arequipa Stream
Cold silver dawn light washes over a grassy highland slope where a solitary eland bull stands in profile. The animal's thick, tawny coat catches the pale glow, against the cool blue tones of the surrounding mist. Below, a glacial stream cuts through the terrain, its surface obscured by low-hanging dust and vapor that rests on the earth. The rainy season has left the ground soft and dark, dotted with sparse green vegetation. Fine particles of dust hang suspended in the air, softening the edges of the distant Andes foothills. The bull's massive, spiraled horns rise sharply against the hazy sky, anchoring the composition at the intersection of the rule of thirds. one drop of water slides down the curve of a nearby leaf, merging into the damp soil.
