Deep indigo mist settles on the wet ground along a narrow game trail near Anchorage, obscuring the distant tree line. A team of sled dogs pulls a runner across the packed, heavy snow, their dark forms reduced to sharp silhouettes against the low, reflected glow from a nearby body of water. The snow surface holds deep tracks from the sled runners. Faint rim light traces the backs of the moving dogs, defining their muscles against the dim surroundings. The water's surface mirrors the fading blue sky, creating a horizontal band of light that separates the dark foreground from the obscured background. One pair of harness lines stretches taut between the dogs, catching the faint reflection before vanishing into the shadows.
