Warm candlelight spills over rows of bamboo steamers resting on a patterned picnic blanket spread across a tiled floor. The steamers hold dumplings wrapped in translucent skins, their surfaces glistening with moisture. Rain streaks the nearby glass window, blurring the street outside into soft streaks of yellow and gray. The warm glow from the candle reflects off the wet rim of a teacup beside the steamers. Shadows stretch long across the geometric tiles, deepening the corners of the room where the light cannot reach. one drop of condensation rests on the edge of a bamboo slat, ready to fall.
