Tiny spheres of water link together in a fragile chain along the sharp, golden tips of barley awns. The plant stems rest against a wall coated in peeling turquoise paint, where layers of white and grey show through the weathered surface. Late afternoon sunlight falls through sheer curtains, casting soft, diffused beams that catch the curvature of the dew. Each droplet acts as a miniature lens, reflecting the bright window light while the dry, fibrous texture of the awns contrasts with the liquid smoothness. Shallow focus blurs the painted background into a wash of cool blue and white, isolating the intricate geometry of the water links. One highlight gleams on the lowest drop, anchoring the chain to the rough grain of the dried stalk.
