Blue White Delft Tile Windmill Against Siena Fortress
Rain-slicked ceramic glaze reflects the pale morning sky while a traditional Delft tile rests against the rough, weathered stone of a fortress wall near Siena. The tile features a crisp blue and white windmill scene, its painted details sharp against the drizzle. Water beads roll down the smooth surface, against the dry, dusty texture of the surrounding masonry. The fortress stones show centuries of erosion, their gray tones shifting to warm ochre where the sun breaks through the clouds. Early summer greenery clings to cracks in the wall, adding a touch of life to the stone. The composition places the tile in the left third, allowing the rugged wall to dominate the right side. A droplet hangs from the tile's lower edge, about to fall onto the rough stone below.
