Swirling wet oil paint on palette knife

Thick strokes of crimson and ochre oil paint rest on the curved stainless steel edge of a palette knife, resting against a backdrop of white ceramic tiles. The warm glow of candlelight reflects off the wet, viscous surface of the paint, highlighting its glossy texture and the slight ridges where the blade has dragged through the mixture. Shadows stretch deep into the corner of the tiled stair hall, against the bright, saturated colors of the pigment. The monsoon season outside is suggested by the damp, heavy quality of the air visible in the condensation on the nearby window frame. The composition isolates the tool and paint, creating a sharp graphic tension between the smooth metal and the chaotic swirl of colors. one drop of blue paint hangs precariously at the very tip of the blade.
