Dawn Marshlands Lesotho Reeds Rim Light
Deep shadows swallow the lower marshlands of Lesotho while the first light of dawn traces sharp silver edges along the tops of tall, dry reeds. Late autumn has turned the grasses into brittle shades of ochre and rust, standing stiff against a sky heavy with low-hanging grey clouds. The wide panoramic view reveals a vast expanse of waterlogged ground where the geologic grandeur of the highlands meets the soft, damp vegetation. A faint, cool blue tone dominates the foreground, against the thin, bright lines of sunlight cutting through the mist. The reeds stand like dark sentinels, their tips glowing with a delicate, almost electric warmth against the encroaching morning gloom. One reflection of the grey sky rests on the still surface of a small pool in the immediate foreground.
