Autumn Alpine Meadow Mist Over Colorado Tidal Shallows
by Conner Welch
Golden larch leaves blanket a wide valley floor where alpine meadows meet shallow tidal waters in early morning light. Low clouds drift across the horizon, their undersides glowing with the first direct strike of the sun. A thin layer of mist rises slowly from the cool water surface, separating the marshy grasses from the distant mountain ridges. The water reflects the pale sky and scattered clouds, creating a soft, mirrored texture along the shoreline. Wet mudflats glisten with reflected light, while patches of dried tundra grass stand rigid in the cold air. The composition reveals the vast scale of the landscape from above, showing the intricate patterns of water channels cutting through the autumn vegetation. One patch of bright orange foliage rests on the dark, wet edge of a shallow pool.
