Copper Lunar Eclipse Over Taoyuan Harbor Night
by Debra Butler
A deep copper-red moon hangs suspended in a perfectly clear winter sky above the quiet harbor near Taoyuan. The lunar surface glows with an intense, metallic rust hue, contrasting sharply against the dark indigo expanse. Below, the water reflects faint, silvery ripples under the pale ambient light of early spring. Traditional paper lanterns line the wooden pier, casting small pools of warm amber glow that flicker against the cold stone. Wooden pilings emerge from the dark water, their surfaces weathered and darkened by the damp night air. The composition uses the dark silhouette of a nearby archway to frame the celestial event, showing depth. The moon's reddish rim aligns precisely with the top edge of the distant city lights, which appear as a thin, cool strip of white. One lantern rope sways gently against the stone pillar.
