Charred Corn Ears on Tray in Khartoum Courtyard

Blackened corn cobs rest on a rectangular metal tray, their kernels glowing orange where heat meets soot. Rough, ash-stained husks curl around the bright yellow interior, sitting beside a stack of clean napkins. Overhead, string lights hang low, casting a warm amber glow that reflects off the oily char. The tray rests on a rough stone ledge within a temple courtyard, where cool season air settles on the ground. Behind the food, blurred stone arches recede into the twilight haze, framing distant figures against the darkening sky. The edge of a charred kernel breaks against the smooth metal rim.
