A tarnished brass gate handle stands isolated against the rough, peeling white paint of a traditional Cape Dutch door frame in Cape Town. The flat noon light strikes the metal directly, creating a sharp, bright highlight that contrasts with the deep, shadowed recesses of the keyhole. Behind the handle, the thick wooden door shows signs of weathering, with cracks running vertically through the aged timber grain. A small patch of green ivy creeps up the side of the frame, its leaves slightly curled from the intense heat of the midday sun.
