Winter in Cape Town at Noon Light

A weathered wooden balcony in a Cape Town suburb catches the bright, flat light of a winter noon, with the distant, hazy outline of Table Mountain visible through the open railing. Two powder-coated metal stools sit slightly askew on the rough concrete floor, their surfaces dull under the diffuse sky. A white cotton towel edge drapes over a rusted iron rail, catching a sharp shadow that stretches across the slats. Nearby, a small ceramic bowl holds a few dried orange peels, their texture rough and cracked.
