Iron Gate Handle in Cape Town

A heavy iron gate handle, bolted firmly to a rough stone wall in Cape Town, stands out against the fading summer evening light. The metal surface is pitted with rust and marked by years of friction, catching the last warm glow of the sun. A thick, weathered rope is coiled loosely around the base of the handle, resting on the uneven stonework. Small flecks of dried salt crust rest on the lower edge of the iron fixture near the ground.
