Candlelit Nave in Sahel Mud Brick Mosque
Honey-colored light streams through narrow windows, washing the rough, undulating surface of the mud-brick walls in warm amber tones. From a low vantage point, the perspective emphasizes the towering height of the nave, where dark timber beams support the ceiling structure. Small oil lamps sit on low ledges and floor niches, their flames casting soft, dancing shadows against the earthy plaster. The air appears still, allowing the golden glow to settle deeply into the corners of the room. Dust motes hang suspended in the shafts of afternoon light filtering through the openings. The texture of the aged clay contrasts with the smooth, dark grain of the timber minarets rising toward the upper darkness. A final beam of copper-toned light strikes a wooden support beam, highlighting the rough fibers of the wood.
