Vibrant cadmium yellow and deep cerulean blue swirl together in a thick, wet layer of paint spread across a dark floor. The mixture sits inside a glass-roofed arcade in Dalian, where predawn darkness presses against the architecture. One projector beam cuts through the gloom, illuminating the glossy, fluid surface and revealing suspended dust motes dancing in the shaft. The curved lines of the glass roof frame the composition above, while the wet paint reflects the stark artificial light with a mirror-like sheen. The edges of the color study fade into the shadowed floor tiles, creating a sharp graphic contrast between the bright pigment and the surrounding void. A faint reflection of the overhead grid appears in the wet blue paint.
