Oxidized Copper and Paper in Dalian Arcade

Cool blue twilight washes the glass-roofed arcade in Dalian, casting a uniform indigo glow over the floor. In the foreground, a sheet of oxidized copper displays a mottled surface of teal, rust-brown, and dull green patina. Beside it, folded paper rests with sharp, geometric creases that catch the fading light. Lamplight settles into the corners of the structure, creating soft pools of warm yellow against the dominant blue atmosphere. Reflections on the polished surfaces mirror the copper and paper, doubling the forms in a rhythmic, symmetrical pattern. The textures contrast vividly: the rough, corroded metal against the smooth, matte fiber. A sharp edge of the paper aligns perfectly with a rust stain on the copper, marking the boundary between the two materials in the dim light.
