Brass Pot in Muscat

Dense, salt-heavy mist rests on the limestone facade of a traditional Omani house in Mutrah, diffusing the early morning light into a soft, grey wash. A young man in a crisp white dishdasha and red-trimmed kuma stands on a low concrete step, scrubbing a large brass coffee pot with a rough brush, steam rising from the basin of hot water beside him. Thin soap bubbles rest on the wet stone rim, catching the faint ambient glow. Behind him, a heavy wooden door with iron studs is slightly ajar, revealing a glimpse of a dark interior carpet.
