Securing Catch in Muscat

Mist rests on the coral-stone facade of a traditional Omani house near Muttrah Corniche, softening the geometric lines of the carved wooden mashrabiya screens. A fisherman in a white dishdasha stands by a wooden dhow, carefully adjusting a folded canvas tarp that drapes over the bow, protecting the catch from the damp morning air. Beside him, a ceramic water pitcher sits on a low crate, condensation beading on its glazed surface, reflecting the pale, diffused light of the dawn. The harbor water is still and dark, mirroring the muted tones of the sky and the distant silhouettes of dhows.
