Bright midmorning skylight illuminates the weathered wooden planks of a riverside landing in Tolyatti. A young boy stands at the frame's edge, gripping a fishing rod that towers well above his head. White snowflakes fall across the dark, wet wood and his heavy winter coat, accumulating on the rough grain of the railing beside him.
