Snow Squall Silhouettes Against Winter Twilight Sky in across a storm-bright plain near Stockholm

Snow Squall Silhouettes Against Winter Twilight Sky

by Alexander Herman

Deep indigo shadows blanket a flat plain near Stockholm as a violent snow squall erupts against the fading light. Three massive wind turbines stand rigid, their dark forms cut sharply by a thin, bright rim of twilight sky. The snow falls in dense, horizontal streaks, glowing white where it catches the last ambient glow before vanishing into the gloom. The ground remains a smooth, undisturbed sheet of white ice, reflecting the cool blue tones of the hour. Above, the sky is perfectly clear, a vast dome of deepening navy that offers no clouds to soften the contrast. The turbines appear as silent sentinels, their blades frozen in position against the rushing white particles. A sharp edge of light traces the curve of the nearest turbine blade, separating the dark metal from the falling snow.
