Swimmer Exploding Off Block at Saharsa Beach Dawn
by Curtis Hanna
Soft gray light from heavy overcast skies washes the shoreline near Saharsa, where a swimmer launches forward from a white starting block. The athlete's body forms a tight, dynamic arc mid-air, muscles tensed against the resistance of the air. Behind the figure, the calm river water meets a sandy bank scattered with small pebbles and sparse green reeds typical of late summer. The sky dominates the upper frame, a solid sheet of muted clouds that diffuses the early morning glow. Water droplets spray from the swimmer's trailing limbs, catching the flat light in brief, bright specks. The block's surface shows faint wear marks where feet have gripped, against the smooth, wet sand below. One shadow stretches slightly behind the block, at the base of the motion in the stillness of the beach.
