Sunlight pierces the clear early spring water, illuminating a brass antique wax seal press resting on a rocky shelf near Paddington, Sydney. Kelp fronds drift lazily around the heavy metal object, their green blades catching the low morning glow. The heraldic crest die gleams with a cold, metallic luster against the warm horizon haze. Shadows cast by the press and surrounding rocks point upward toward the bright surface, defying the position of the sun. Slow ripples distort the light beams into shifting patterns across the brass surface. One bubble rests on the edge of the seal press, suspended in the weightless quiet.
