Algerian Cornfield Twilight with Glowing Beacons in along freshly irrigated rows in Algeria

Algerian Cornfield Twilight with Glowing Beacons

by Billy Davidson

Deep twilight shadows fill rows of corn stalks in an Algerian field, their green leaves turning dark against the fading sky. Freshly irrigated soil glistens with a wet sheen, reflecting the last hints of daylight along the furrows. Tall poles stand at intervals, each topped with a beacon emitting a steady, warm orange glow that cuts through the encroaching darkness. The light carves a sharp rim along the tops of the plants, separating them from the shadowed earth below. Straight lines of irrigation channels and plant rows stretch into the distance, pulling the gaze toward the horizon where the sky remains a pale, clear blue. The dry season leaves the ground cracked in places between the wet tracks. One glowing bulb on the nearest pole casts a small, perfect circle of light onto the damp soil beneath it.
