Aerial Glacier Blue Crevasse View in high over salt ponds and causeways in Canada

Aerial Glacier Blue Crevasse View

by Brielle Padilla

Clear dry mountain light illuminates a vast ice sheet from directly above, revealing deep blue crevasses that cut through the white surface. Heat shimmer rises in wavering lines from the surrounding salt ponds and causeways, distorting the boundary between land and ice. The polar night setting casts a cool, detached tone over the landscape, where geometric causeways contrast with the organic fractures in the glacier. White ice meets the pale gray of the water in a stark, flat horizon. The blue of the crevasses deepens where shadows fall across the uneven terrain. Sharp edges of the ice frame the still water below.
