Tropical bright light floods the flooded floodplain near Centro, Rio de Janeiro, turning the standing water into a vast mirror. The submerged landscape forms a stark coral atoll shape, its pale limestone ridges rising from the murky brown depths. Rain-soaked vegetation rests on the high edges, displaying deep emerald greens against the grey sky. The water surface remains perfectly still, creating a flawless mirrored composition that doubles the jagged silhouette of the landform. Warm coastal air hangs heavy, visible in the slight haze softening the distant horizon. The scene shows the solitude of a wind-carved island floating in a temporary sea, with the sharp contrast between the dry stone texture and the liquid surface defining the space. A thin line of foam rests along the submerged ridge.
