Zimbabwe Prayer Plant Sunrise Corridor in in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe Prayer Plant Sunrise Corridor

by Noelle Potter

Soft morning light spills across a prayer plant with tightly folded leaves, its green veins catching the first rays of dawn. Mist from the air hangs low, blurring the edge of a simple stone structure in Zimbabwe. Behind the plant, a narrow corridor stretches outward, extending visibly past the building's roofline into the pale sky. The impossible length defies the walls, yet shadows fall consistently along the floor and up the sides. Cool season air keeps the foliage crisp and the colors deep. The plant rests on a rough stone ledge, its folded leaves mirroring the straight lines of the impossible passage. A faint reflection of the extended corridor appears on a wet stone surface at the very bottom edge.
