Worn Loom Shuttle on Museum Plinth in on a museum plinth in Mendoza

Worn Loom Shuttle on Museum Plinth

by Katya Ward

Soft daylight falls through sheer curtains, casting pale, shifting shadows across a polished stone plinth in a Mendoza museum. A wooden loom shuttle rests centrally, its surface scarred by decades of use. The handle shows deep grooves where hands have gripped it, against the smooth, cool gray of the display stand. Dust motes hang suspended in the beams of light, settling on the sharp, chipped edges of the tool. The wood grain runs lengthwise, dark and oily in the shadows, while the tips gleam where the light hits directly. Surrounding the object, the plinth surface remains stark and empty, showing the shuttle's solitary, functional history against the clean, restrained background of the gallery.
