Wool Shawl in Muscat

Mist rests on the rough limestone facade of a traditional Omani house, softening the geometric precision of the carved wooden mashrabiya screens above. A local woman in a flowing white dishdasha stands on the narrow concrete landing, shaking out a heavy, damp wool shawl that catches the faint, diffuse dawn light. The fabric hangs in heavy, textured folds, against the smooth, pale stone of the wall behind her. Beside her, a simple wooden drying rack leans against the railing, holding a few scattered items.
