Clay Bowls in Muscat

Soft, diffused overcast light washes over a weathered stone washstand in a Muscat courtyard, where a woman’s hands, stained faintly with henna, carefully rinse a pair of traditional clay soup bowls in a shallow basin. Beside the basin, a cracked plastic soap bottle leans against the rough masonry, its label faded by sun and salt air. In the background, a flowering bougainvillea spills over a low wall, its magenta petals against the pale, dusty concrete. A quiet moment of domestic routine, framed by the textured walls of an old Omani house, with no other people visible, showing the intimacy of the task.
