Pale gray light falls through heavy overcast skies to illuminate a single blade of winter grass standing along the wave-cut shoreline near Tianjin. A heavy droplet of morning dew rests on the tip, sliding slowly down the green stalk against the muted backdrop. The ground beneath is frozen, covered in frost that sparkles faintly under the first rays of sunrise. Behind the grass, the calm water reflects the blade perfectly, creating a symmetrical line where sky meets sea. The reflection doubles the texture of the grass and the droplet, merging the foreground and background into a seamless vertical column. The cold air leaves the shoreline still, with no movement in the water or the frozen earth.
