Winter Liverwort on Stone Near Innsbruck Waterfall

Cool blue twilight washes over a wet stone surface where a dense colony of dark green liverwort clings tightly to the rock. Above, low-hanging gray clouds obscure the sky, casting a flat, even light that eliminates harsh shadows. In the distance, the faint glow of city lights from Innsbruck begins to pierce the winter gloom, appearing as small, scattered points of warm yellow against the deepening blue. The stone surface glistens with moisture from the nearby waterfall, reflecting the ambient sky color. The texture of the liverwort appears velvety and matted, against the smooth, slick grain of the damp rock. A thin layer of frost dusts the edges of the stones where the water does not reach, marking the dead of winter.
