Welding Arc Reflection on Gurgaon Wet Pavement
by Jordan Brady
Electric blue light from a distant welding arc streaks across the dark, wet asphalt of a narrow back alley in Gurgaon. The surface acts as a mirror, distorting the sharp blue flash into a liquid ribbon that merges with the warm, orange glow of nearby firelight. Late autumn air hangs heavy, visible as a wavering heat shimmer rising from the hot ground. Rain-slicked stones reflect the flickering illumination, creating a chaotic mosaic of cool blue and warm amber tones. A Dutch angle tilt forces the perspective sideways, making the alley walls lean inward against the sky. The wet texture glistens under the dual light sources, highlighting the rough grain of the pavement and the scattered debris caught in the puddles. A faint ripple in the blue reflection marks the edge of a discarded plastic bottle half-submerged in the water.
