Warehouse District Reflections in Brown Canal Water

Deep shadow swallows the lower levels of a welding bay near Bocagrande, where heavy steel beams stand in rigid rows. A rim of pale morning light traces the top edges of corrugated metal walls, separating the dark interior from the low-hanging gray clouds above. The still, brown water of the canal mirrors these industrial forms, creating a distorted, fluid duplicate of the rigid structures. Rust stains streak the wet concrete floor, leading toward a vanishing point where the warehouse walls converge. The water surface holds the reflection with a slight ripple, blurring the sharp lines of the steel into wavering verticals. One beam of light catches a speck of dust on a metal railing.
