Venetian Artisan Gilding Plague Mask

Warm candlelight spills across a cluttered workbench, illuminating the intricate process of applying gold leaf to a black plague doctor beak. The artisan, seated low in the frame, leans forward with focused precision as a brush touches the curved surface. Late spring air hangs still in the workshop, hinted at by the soft, open window revealing a deepening blue twilight outside. Dust motes float in the amber glow, settling on stacks of unfinished leather and tools scattered nearby. Soft reflections shimmer on the polished brass of a nearby mirror and the smooth lacquer of the mask itself. at the edge rests on a tiny, perfect fleck of gold adhering to the dark, curved beak.
